its tough.

one thing that has been going through my mind is this, i wonder if it would be more beneficial for me to come all the way here to try and help or if just sending the 4 grand or so that i spent coming here, to someone and letting them use the money instead.

ive made an aquaintance in kampala, a guy from northern ireland.
maybe a couple years older than i am.
but hes been here several different times, spent 5 months building a dormitory at one of the orphanages here by himself.
hes seen a lot.
and he assures me that not everything is what is seems here,
especially for people like us, were here for a short time, obviously have a ton of money compared to the majority of the people here.
so some people put on a front, and try to act a certain way in hopes of achieving a certain thing i suppose. the obvious.
so even with some of the places like orphanages you have to be really careful where and how the money is being dispersed.
and without being here, or just doing some sponsor child things, its impossible really. (and the sponsor kids are most definitley worth it, if you ever wondered.)
i guess ive just been wondering about this cause there is so much need here it feels like we havent done anything hardly. you could spend your life working here and help only a fraction of the people. its pretty discouraging.
i think being here and making the connections with some people was worth the trip to open the proper channels to make sending money or coming to work actually a possibility. the kids also make it very worthwhile.
i cant even explain that part, youll have to see pictures to understand.
