i dont have a title for this one.

everytime i try to write one of these i always end up sitting here looking at the computer wondering how to explain what has been going on.
its a lot to handle somedays.
weve been in the ntinkalu village this week again, starting the process of the microfinance loans.
so alot of the adults from the community come to the school to hear our plans and to give their ideas...when lots of adults come alot of kids come too.
which is great.
but yesterday one girl showed up, and she was bleeding from a cut of sorts on her ear.
but no one wanted to help her.
her mom is HIV positive, they said they arent sure about her.
i thought it was a given but i dont know for sure.
anyways, one of the guys with us put on some gloves and cleaned the dirt from the girls ear. her mom said she had been bleeding for a week.
but she didnt have the money to take her to the doctor...
2 of the ladies kids had died this year already. so its hard to know what to think.
we took the girl to the doctor today, even one day after cleaning it her ear looked alot better. so hopefully the doctor can help her with everything she needs.
when i went to the clinic last week, i had blood taken, and saw 2 doctors, and they gave me 4 prescription medications. and i paid 30,000 shillings.
which is around 20$.
so im sure whatever the girl needs we wont have a problem affording it.
i just dont know what to say.
do you blame the parents for getting into the situation having multiple children when they are HIV positive? do you blame the way the world has developed into a place where a mother cant afford to take her child to the doctor? do you blame western civilization for not helping out more in places like this? what do you do?
besides try to help one person at a time and try not to cry because in the grand scheme of things youre completely helpless. i dont know.
but i sure wish there was someone to blame and yell at when stuff like this comes up.

Kris,

I once read that tragedy doesn't create character it reveals it.

Good work my friend.

hey kris
i would try to reply meaningfully to what you wrote but in my ignorance i would probably just sound silly.
i don't think you understand the magnitude of the situations you are sharing unless you are actually in them. and even then it probably doesn't even sink in.
but i am thankful to hear about your journeys and struggles all the same.
