all my posts are about my friends lately.
this week i got thinking about all my friends who live in different places.
plenty of them quite far from regina.
and some of them moving again right now or right away.
west coast, toronto, europe, mexico, mongolia, australia, nwt. (dont know for sure if that one counts, cause its pretty much like living in the land before time)
but im sure i could make a pretty good list of how many of my friends have either escaped the black hole of regina, or never really got trapped by it.
some of them have been gone from here longer than they stayed here.
and with some of the new ones moving again, it makes you wonder, how friendships last when youre not in close contact with the people.
but when i think about my friends who are gone, when we do meet up its like nothing ever changed. time passed but you grow separately, as well as hold onto that meeting place that started the friendship. and it stays the same with close friends, no matter where each of you has been or what youve been through.
theres sayings like "you grow up and you grow apart." or "distance makes the heart grow fonder." i guess it depends on the friend. "distance makes the heart grow fonder, or forgetful." and ive had a few friends move on in life and grow apart, but it seems the better ones are always there and ready to click right back into things when the opportunity is available.
nic would inevitably throw something in here about technology and our plastic communication boxes we all have and even live through to a certain extent.
how its changing the way people communicate and how we exchange real life experiences with people to communicate through these toys.
and i wouldnt deny the fact that people these days have no communication skills for real life applications. but i would also add that these things keep us all in touch through the times when our friends take the opportunities to move around, see whats out there, and enjoy what we have at our fingertips i guess.
even though nic and i just stop talking when he leaves til when he gets home, i read about his adventures, and when hes home, its like he never left.
and i am thankful for my friends in my life that i can do that with.

you've got me pegged pretty hard.
but if it weren't for this computer i've stared into for the past week straight, or for my iPod touch, i'd have no friends, or sure wouldn't be able to communicate with them. even the ones who live ten minutes away.
you got it.
