trade this for the world.

i am currently working at coop refinery in regina.
7-530 6 days a week. and then some bits and pieces, extra hours here and there.
2 hours of my day gets cost coded to "travel" driving from the gate to the trailer, from the trailer to the site, from site to the trailer. etc etc.
1 hour is safety, every day.
so at max we accomplish a solid 5 hours of real work.
its an interesting place.
im running a foundation crew on the revamp side of the refinery project right now.
so theres a lot more responsibility involved, but i only work as much as feel the need.
the project is solely the type of carpentry that i like doing most.
things are pretty good there.
and every year sometimes twice a year, i get the idea running through my head about whether or not this carpentry project ive got going is what im gonna do my whole life.
start to wonder why im doing this.
i know for sure ill finish my jman, and work for a little bit with it.
but then what.
ive narrowed it down to about 3 options. maybe 3.5, something like that.
and im not gonna write about what any of them are.

we were talking about it at work,
and the same time every year when you get that idea rolling through your head about quitting. never fails.
walk into an icy cold jiffy biffy for a pee, and steam fogs up your safety glasses and you remember why youre there. fifty below comin up.
im not sure ill ever quit carpentry,
i guess if a better deal came up,
ive always thought it would be cool to win the lottery.
at least for the first little bit.

Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get.

i'm really sick. so i've been hacking up a lung every few minutes and my abs are really sore because of it.

so when i read the line about winning the lottery, it triggered a cough/laugh that really hurt.
i love how you talk about it as if it's a legitimate life plan.

next time i see you we'll discuss the 3.5 options.
i'm specifically interested in .5
